Does pineapple really belong on pizza?
“Uhhhhh sooo can I get just a plain cheese pizza?” As a pizza maker who worked at a mom n pop pizza joint throughout my entire high school career, this was an oh so familiar call answered every Friday night. However, the people in my small rural town were not alone when it came to this bland pizza order. According to Foodler, apparently, 37 per cent of people who order takeouttend to typically order just a plain ol cheese pizza. Shocking I know. Aside from the lacklustre cheese pizzas, the rest of your picks shocked even me. So, here are the top 10 most ordered pizza toppings of all time, don’t be too traumatized when you see where pineapple placed.
These results were gathered through four years of working at a pizza restaurantand from overall knowledge of pizza (through eating it of course.) The list is as follows:
1. Pepperoni
2. Bacon
3. Mushrooms
4. Pineapple
5. Onion
6. Double cheese
7. Italian sausage
8. Ham
9. Green pepper
10. Tomato
The debate that has divided nations has now been ended. Pineapple DOES, in fact, belong on pizza. Nonetheless, if you think pineapple is bad, that is only the beginning to the nightmares some people order. The most shocking discovery I made while working in the pizza business was the request to have no cheese or toppings at all. Imagine, opening a pizza box and to your sheer horror, there is only crust and pizza sauce. Tragic really.
Something I think we can all agree on was the relief of knowing anchovies never came close to making the list, as it is featured number one on the most hated pizza toppings everybody despises byCheatSheet. If that’s saying anything about who the real villain is, it’s that no one should ever disrespect pizza with fish.

This is an interesting look into what people are ordering on their pizzas! I'll be honest that I'm one of the boring ones who just loves a good cheese pizza.

ReplyDeleteAs someone who also worked and a mom n pop pizza place, the one thing I loved alongside my pizza was making pepperoni chips. Put pepperonis in the oven and let them crisp up a little burnt and dip them in creamy garlic sauce with my pizza. Mmmm
